Most college-search plans don't stall because families aren't trying. They stall because the plan was built for a quiet month, not a school year full of practices, projects and exams.

Hi friend,
This week's episode was about the year a lot of families tell us feels the most crowded: junior year.
Dana's main point: most college-search plans don't stall because families aren't trying. They stall because the plan was built for a quiet month, not a school year full of practices, projects and exams.
The three questions Dana suggests asking once a month, at the kitchen table:
- What is the one college-search task we're doing this month, and only that one?
- Who owns it: the student, the parent, or both together?
- What do we want to know by the end of the month that we don't know now?
Dana's reminder: this is a starting point to talk through with your own school or independent counselor, since every student's situation is different.

Why junior-year college plans stall (and a simpler way to keep one)
In Ep. 41, Dana talks about the gap between the big plan a family makes in August and the busy school year they actually have by November.
The episode ends with three quick questions for a once-a-month check-in. They take about ten minutes, and they work whether a family is just starting to look at schools or already has a long list.
Four ways to keep the conversation going.
